I've always been a strong supporter of Mandarin education as a means to preparing students for the future. Thus, when I heard that there is a pilot program in Mexico aiming at introducing Chinese language to local schools, I was extremely excited. What was even more surprising and wonderful was that the current school-Pedro Garcia Rojas Elementary-piloting the Chinese program is using Better Chinese materials! You can read the LA Times article here: Learning Chinese in Mexico: Children Prepare for the Future.
Launching this Chinese language program shows that the demand for Mandarin education is growing worldwide as people realize the importance of Chinese language in preparing students to be more competitive in the global job market. Let's hope that other schools follow in its footsteps!
