Homeschool Chinese: Chinese New Year in SF

While Christmas is a time for religion, parties, pretty dresses and presents, Chinese New Year is a time for spring cleaning, tradition, family get togethers, and non-stop feasting. Many Chinese families literally hop from one family to another, visiting some relatives whom they see only once a year. We are fortunate that we live within a few hours drive of San Francisco.  We thereby take advantage of our proximity to visit when we can, specifically when cultural events take place. Last year we had the opportunity to spend the weekend in Chinatown for the Chinese New Year celebration.  For homework, Laoshi Shawn asked that they create a news report to reflect upon their experience.

Meili was born in the year of the horse so we are planning to attend the Lunar New Year celebrations in San Francisco again this year.  We'll share another post of our adventures soon after we've returned home.
